Waikanae Boat Club

Fast, high-spec GIB installation across mixed ceiling heights and bracing zones

Category

Commercial

Size

300 m²

Duration

2 days – Team of 3

Scope

GIB Walls Only

Overview

Te Marua Linings completed a rapid commercial refit for the Waikanae Boat Club, upgrading 300 m² of interior wall linings across mixed-height spaces. The building featured both low 2.4 m ceilings and elevated 3.3 m zones, requiring careful access planning and multiple scaffold setups.
We installed Standard GIB throughout general areas, Aqualine GIB in moisture-prone sections, and Braceline GIB (BL1) in designated high-bracing zones to enhance structural rigidity. The entire installation was completed within a tight 48-hour weekend closure, ensuring the club could reopen on schedule.

GIB Installation

Mixed Ceiling Heights

The Waikanae Boat Club refurbishment involved lining a combination of low and high wall surfaces. The varying ceiling heights meant material handling, sequencing, and safety had to be planned in detail to maintain speed without compromising workmanship. Given the building’s community use, a high-quality, durable finish was essential.

Key Details

Challenges

1. Mixed Ceiling Heights

Required frequent scaffold adjustments and different installation heights across the same working area.

2. Strict Weekend Completion Window

The club needed to be fully operational again after 48 hours, allowing no room for delays.

3. Structural Bracing Requirements

BL1 Braceline areas required precise fixing patterns and inspection compliance.

Solutions

1. Multi-Stage Scaffold Planning

Set up scaffold zones ahead of time based on ceiling height transitions to minimise downtime.

2. High-Efficiency Team Rotation
Installers rotated between low- and high-height areas to maintain continuous progress without bottlenecks.

3. High-Efficiency Team Rotation

Followed BL1 bracing guidelines with exact fixing patterns and spacing, ensuring all bracing inspections passed on first review.

Project Conclusion

Completed within a tight 48-hour deadline, the Waikanae Boat Club refit showcases Te Marua Linings’ ability to deliver high-quality commercial installations under strict time pressure. Despite mixed-height ceilings, bracing requirements, and the need for multiple scaffold setups, the team delivered a precise, fully compliant finish throughout all zones.
This project highlights our capability in complex commercial environments where efficiency, safety, and finish quality must all be delivered without compromise.
